When it comes to choosing the most appropriate technologies to solve a particular problem there are many options. In any engagement, we always evaluate the current situation, provide solution alternatives, and move forward with what is the most appropriate for the specific customer.  Each customer is unique and will always require a distinct blend of technologies and services to solve their problem and fit into their budget.

When building custom applications we will leverage the .Net platform, use .Net 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 as our development environment and target the .Net release that is required by the engagement.  We can leverage Window Workflow or Window Presentation Foundation if it’s justified.  In nearly all engagements we will leverage Windows Communication Foundation.

The window into our applications can be a standalone web site, an implementation of SharePoint, custom Smart Clients or extensions of Office leveraging VSTO.

The default database we use is SQL Server 2008 R2.  We use SQL for transactional systems as well as reporting systems or for Business Intelligence.  Our default reporting platform is SQL Server Reporting Services.

When TechPath needs to integrate various backend systems we will leverage either BizTalk Server 2009, SQL Server Integrations Services or custom WCF; depending on requirements.

In specific circumstances TechPath will leverage Commerce Server to implement eCommerce platforms.
